Did the season really go by that fast?

Thats the question on everyones mind as we enter the month of March. I know i speak for more than myself when I say that the season went by faster than any other season i can think of. Even though you can’t control snow there is one place that offers skiing year round. This place is Windells. Windells is said to be “The Funnest Place on Earth” and offers coaching from a professional staff. Pro’s include Tom Wallisch, Sammy Carlson, Steve Stepp, and many more. Windells camp is 7 days long with 5 days on the mountain and 2 days set aside for your arrival and departure. There’s also much more to Windells than just skiing. They offer an indoor skate park which can be accessed by campers at any time. This indoor wonderland features halfpipes, fun boxes, many rails, and even an olympic trampoline with foam pit. Overall Windells is a fun place for everyone and its the perfect way to get a little extra time out of your ski season.

How to talk skiier

There’s a lot of words skiiers use that dont always make sense to people that dont ski. Due to this i think it would be appropriate to help people that dont ski understand the way we talk…

Hyphie-

1.) The act of being amped up.

2.)West Coast/ Bay Area’s way of being crunk

“We’re about to get hyphie in this place!”

Double flip-

1.) Term in the ski world used to describe a ski trick where two flips are done in the same fluent motion as one maneuver.

“Did Tom Wallisch just afterbanged that double flip!?”

Afterbang-

1.)After landing a sick skiing trick you ride away all steezy and relaxed. Some people think this makes them look extra talented.

2.)The landing of any trick on skis with what appears to be extreme steeze. Usually done by placing hands by waist in front or behind and leaning back in a relaxed stance.

Steeze-

1.) The combination of “style” and “ease.” The word is spelled with a z just to make it more steezy.

” Adam had hella steeze with that double flip.”

1.) The act of skiing/riding hard and going all out at the mountain

1.) place where skiiers and snowboarders can hit jumps and rails

Another problem that can keep you off the slopes is a bad hip. the more and more you hit rails the more your going to fall and land on your dominant hiP. After a while that hip will begin to get so sore that skiing becomes difficult. Can’t think of a solution? Not to worry! The third and final useful tool for skiing is a face mask. The colder weather gets, the harder it is to ski. As skiing progresses at a rapid rate, the chance of risk increases. Your parents might tell you “make sure you wear a helmet!” But a helmets not going to protect you from shinbang (The feeling in your shin at the end of the day when it feels like its about to snap in half), hip injury, or your face.
No need to worry, this blog has all of your solutions.

I’ve done my research on shin bang, and experimented with many types of boots. How To…

Progression is key in skiing, so what better way to help progress than a "how to" segment. During this post I'm gonna run down the steps to doing a backflip.


1.) The first thing your goint to do is find a jump with a good amount of lip on it (lip is the angle of the jump, a lot of lip is a lot of angle and a little lip is a small angle).

2.) Take a few practice runs on your jump to get the speed dialed in and help you get comfortable.

3.) Once your ready to go for a backflip keep your feet close together and your knees bent.

4.) As you approach the lip of the jump pop with your legs throw your arms over your head and tilt your head backwards as if you are trying to look behind yourself.

5.) Once you are in the air keep looking behind yourself and suck your knees up to your chest (this will help your rotation come around)

6.) As you begin to complete your rotation try to spot the ground in order to land in an upright position.

7.) Congratulations! you just landed your first backflip and impressed a lot of people watching you.

Mount Snow located in West Dover vermont is home to the only full terrain park mountain face in the east. This makex Mount Snow a popular destination for freeskiiers accross the east. If your not attracted to the park then four feet of snow over the course of the last five days might be enough to get you to Mount Snow’s 80 open trails. Ticket prices are 75$ for adult’s, 64$ for yound adult”s and 52$ for juniors.

Jiminy Peak located in Hancock Massachusettes is one of the few mountains in th east that offers night skiing. Jiminy’s chairlift runs from eight a.m-ten p.m and the lift’s are run solely on power generated by an on mountain wind turbine. Jiminy currently offers 48 trails, and of those trails 21 are lighted. Adult tickets sell for 58$, young adults 50$, and juniors 44$.

Is it Worth it?

It’s almost spring time, and everyone loves spring skiing. It’s the time of the year the East Coast gets warm enough for you to ski in just a sweatshirt and you can finally put your turtle fur away for next year. As the urge to ski falls upon you, your gonna wanna make sure your getting the most for your money.
Stratton Mountain Resort Located in southern Vermont Currently has 92 trails and eight lifts open. However you might consider their tickets to be over priced. I’ll let you decide if a days worth of skiing is worth 82$  for an adult, or even 69$ for a young adult. If your age is between 0-6 you luck out and can ski for only five dollars.

Gore Mountain Located in North Creek New York just received over two feet of snowfall this past week which allowed them to open 84 trails and 6 lifts. In order to enjoy the 84 trails adults must pat 71$ for a weekend ticket or 64$ for a midweek ticket. Young adults cost 56$ on weekends and 53 on weekdays. Finally juniors cost 38$ on weekends and 35$ on weekdays.

Everyone knows that you can’t bring up ski video’s without talking about level1productions. Level1 is on their 10th year making films, and they have recently produced their newest film “REFRESH.” This video features skiing by Simon Dumont, LJ Strenio, JP Auclair, Tom Wallisch and many many more. Needless to say the riders in this film are helping the ski industry progress at a crazy rate, and this film focuses on the constant progression of skiing over the last decade. The last production company to keep an eye on is Stept Productions. They are an ameteur film company based out of the west coast, however they have the talent and heart of many major film companies. The Movie features Collin Collins, Alex martini, Andrew hathaway and many other progressive riders. Snow Warning in Upstate New York

SNOW! its long awaited arrival has finally come.New York’s skiier’s and snowboarders are expecting their home mountains to be hit hard by this storm. So far this winter has been considered very dry, and as the season winds down this may be the last substantial snowfall of the season.
Here’s a list of mountains to look out for…
West Mountain (Glens Falls)- expecting a total of 16-22 inches accumulated between 2/24-2/26
Gore Mountain (North creek)- expecting a total of 20-26 inches accumulated between 2/24-2/26
Whiteface (Lake Placid)- expecting a total of 18-24 inches accumulated between 2/24-2/26
